We have all been there. You see the quick muscle gain or weight loss and everything is going up. Then it stops. The pounds cease to fall off. Or you can’t add any more weight your bar. Our bodies naturally acclimate to things over time including our workouts.

There are many reasons why we plateau, but the most important thing is that you do not give up. This is an easy thing to do, but if you want real results you need to slug it out even during the times when you don’t seem to have any real changes. Step 1: Track Everything

When we are on a diet and exercise regimen, we have a tendency to always think we are behaving well. More often than not, this our psychology playing tricks on us. If you keep track of things you might notice that you actually snuck five candy bars into your diet during the course of one week. Or that you only ran four miles when you should be running five.

Step 2: Variety is the Spice of Life

Most people would not be happy nor healthy if they ate the same thing every day. And yet, they are fine doing the same routine every time they go to the gym. Mix new things into your workout to not only challenge your body, but also to have some more fun. Try out some yoga, swimming or a dance class. The first step to good health is cardio so move around!

Likewise, if you are so sick of running on the treadmill then hit the elliptical or the weights or better yet, go play soccer or some other sport with a group of friends. There is a benefit to having some consistency in your regimen, but there is similarly equal benefit in keeping it mixed up.

Step 3: Stay Positive

Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was your body. From the top athletes to your fit friends, most people have been working for years to be and stay in shape. The most important thing is that you stay focused and keep trying. Don’t get discouraged just because you don’t have arms like the Rock just yet. Remember every person’s body is different and you will eventually reach your fitness goal.
